Description
Our Dry Desert Camel yarn comes from the Gobi desert in Mongolia. First, the Nomads select the finest fibers coming from the Bactrian Camel. The nomadic herders carefully comb their camels during the molting seasons when the animals naturally should shed their hairs from late spring to early summer.
Camel fiber has thermostatic properties and is very soft. It protects and insulates the camel during the cold desert winter while keeping cool during the warmer days.
The fibers are then washed and carded in Ulan Bator in Mongolia. Our wool is fully traceable, under the Responsible Nomad certification respecting environmental, animal welfare, and social criteria.
Next, they are handspun by our qualified team of spinners in Nepal. Our yarns are then hand-dyed by expert dyers using ZDHC dyeing colors. We know all our workers, and they receive a living wage.
We do our best to be as precise as possible, but sometimes there can be a slight difference between color lots. Therefore, we advise you to buy enough yarn for your project.
