Eri Shimizu designed the Glicine Haori cardigan to celebrate Fil Chofu’s 10th anniversary, one of Nomadnoos’ boutique partners in Japan. The name comes from ‘glicine’, wisteria in Italian, and ‘haori’, a traditional Japanese jacket worn open at the front.

A delicate lace motif runs across the shoulders of this Glicine Haori cardigan, echoing wisteria blossoms in bloom. Instead of a classic raglan, the design features a dropped shoulder with wide, flowing kimono-style sleeves. This gives the cardigan its soft, open silhouette, true to the relaxed spirit of a haori.

We knit the Glicine Haori cardigan in Nomadnoos High Mountain Yak yarn (100% yak, 340–375m / 371–410 yards per 50g). Herder communities in Mongolia source the fibre. Women in Nepal then hand-spin and hand-dye it. Sample 1 holds two colourways together throughout: No stars this evening (black) and Stones on the beach (dark grey). The two shades marl together for a rich, tweedy depth.

The design comes in 9 sizes (1 to 9). Finished bust measurements (back x2) range from 107.5 cm / 42¼” to 189 cm / 74½”. We recommend 20–31 cm / 7¾–12¼” of positive ease. The sample here is a size 1 with 31.5 cm / 12½” of positive ease, for an oversized, wrap-and-go fit.
